Francoise is the granddaughter of Eugene Schueller, a french pharmacist and the founder of L’Oréal. Dating back to 1908, Schueller created the very first synthetic hair dye which he named L’Oréal.

The success of his hair dye formula has led to the opening of the L’Oréal company.

Francoise Bettencourt Meyers was the daughter of Liliane Bettencourt, who was one of the principal shareholders of the company, and also known as the 14th richest person in the world at the time of her death.

After her mother’s death in 2017, Francoise inherited close to $40 billion. Being the only granddaughter of Eugene, she now owns 33% of the company, with a net worth of $89.3 billion.

In addition to being the majority shareholder of L’Oréal, Francoise is the president of her family’s philanthropic foundation that supports French science and arts.

She is the author of a few literature books on the Jewish and Catholic religion, and Greek mythology.
